Use does not equal value.
We are not to measure ourselves by our own use. If we do, we are bound to get disheartened and depressed, compared to God, Christ and even the Paul’s and the Luther’s of this world we seem small and insignificant. BUT God doesn’t need us to be useful; He is and has everything in Himself. He needs nothing and no one outside of Himself. Instead God values us. That’s it. That’s where our worth, our value, and our use comes from. Our value is in and from Him. It’s out of that value that our use flows. How exciting! Our value comes from the One who died for us. He was willing to give everything to save us from ourselves and our devastating sins. And therefore, that’s the value He imparts on us.
How awesome, amazing, and unfathomable that mystery of Salvation is!
