A Good Friday Story

My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?
Psalms 22:1 NKJV

One Friday, nearly 2,000 years ago someth incredible happened. An event which had been prophesied thousands of years early finally took place. An event which the all the events on earth had been pointing towards since the start of time. The Creator and God stepping into humanity and dying to save them. To save us from sins, our rebellion, our just punishment.

It never ceases to amaze me that God Himself would step in for our salvation. Why would the Lord of all, the one who is to judge us, step in and out Himself in the place of punishment? Because He loves us! Why does He love us? That I do not know, aside from He chooses too, there is certainly nothing in my sinful humanity to make me worthy of His love or sacrifice. And that in many ways is the beauty of this. We are undeserving and He is full of love and priceless forgiveness. While we may never know why He did it or what it cost Him, on this I can be sure, He will stop at nothing to save us and draw us into Himself if we let Him. He protects that which He loves.

Thank you Lord for your sacrifice so many years ago. Thank you that your love is so overwhelming it will never let me go.
