Am I of any use?

Am I of any use?” – We make up our minds that we are not, and we may be near the truth. It is never a question of being of use, but of being of value. When we are abandoned to God, He works through us all the time. ~ February 21, My Utmost for His Highest.

So often we ask the wrong question, “Am I of any use?” And we come (perhaps rightly) to the conclusion, no we aren’t, we are broken, sinful, and fallible. But, instead of inquiring of our use, we should be asking about our value. We are infinitely valuable to God. He sent Christ for our redemption! When we are secure in our value, then we have the freedom to completely give ourselves, abandon ourselves to Christ. And when we are totally abandoned, that’s so often when God chooses to use us.
