So often we tend to find God exactly where we left Him, either as our driver or in our boot. Not to say God is confined to our ideas of Him, Heaven forbid! But we when dig through our emotions, our ideas, our pride, so often, when we believe God has forsaken us, it is us who have forsaken Him! We over looked Him at best or completely ignored Him or avoided Him or gone against Him at worst. When things get tough, isn’t it so much better to look forward to Jesus and know He is in control.
Is God your leader or your tail end charlie? If you are hiking an unknown mountain in the dark, with snow obscuring the path – Do you put the guide who knows the mountain back to front at the front or at the back of the group? Do you willingly follow him wherever he may lead, trusting he knows best? Trusting his expansive wisdom and knowledge of the mountain? Or do you place him at the back of the group so you don’t have to listen to him but he’s there just in case you need him? Or do you simply leave him back at camp?
So often we do this with God, instead of letting Him lead us through this hazardous mountain called life, we put Him at the back or try to leave Him at camp. We refuse to listen to anything He says but then demand He get us out of trouble whenever we call. If we’d just let Him lead, we would be able to avoid so much, only going through what is best for us.
Trust God, He is faithful and true and will always lead us Home regardless of whatever we may go through.
