“Disciple is the wholehearted yes to the call of God. When I know myself called, summoned, addresses, taken possession of, know, acted upon, I have heard the Master. I put myself gladly, fully, and forever at His disposal, and to whatever He says my answer is yes.” ~ Elizabeth Elliot, Joyful Surender, pg 16
What is the Lord calling me to say yes to today? This is the second time in two days, by two different people, perhaps I should take note. You see, God doesn’t call us to be overwhelmed, but rather, to simply follow Him, wherever the next step may be. Whether or not anything comes of it, that is in God’s hands, I just have to be faithful with the next step.
I really love that quote and book, it is a beautiful, yet scary thing to reflect on what God is calling us to do. I cannot help but think as we reflect on God and what He is and has been doing in our lives and our circumstances, we gain beautiful and invaluable insight into the character and purpose of God. He is awesome, beautiful, terrifying. I am forever thankful to these faithful authors who point me to this whenever I care to listen.
In as much as this time of COVID has sucked, the blessings of stopping, reflecting and valuing God are times and memories I will cherish forever.
I pray dear Lord draw me into yourself, guide me on your paths for your glory and give me the grace to say yes to whatever you might ask.
