A daily thought.

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8 ESV

Today was the best day ever! (well at least so far..) . This afternoon I got engaged to my best friend โค after years of not thinking it would ever happen, it finally happened! I am so excited to see what God has planned for us โ™ก

So on such an exciting day, you might be wondering why I’d choose this verse. How could this verse possibly relate to such a happy day? I love this verse for a number of reasons. Number one, I love how our whole life can (or should) be reduced down into these three elements; do justice, love mercy/kindness and walk humbly with God. What a beautiful picture of a mature Christian walking with God, doing good and loving people. And if we are seriously planning on starting a life together we need to think about how that looks. What is important both to us and more importantly to God? I think this verse sums it up really well.

Secondly, how often do we think about what is good? Yet this verse tells us that we should know what is good, we have already been told. On days like today, all we focus on is the “good”, how perfect the day was, what the ring looked like, how good the moments were. Yet verses like this remind us, while this is also good in the true sense, there is so much more to being good. Good isn’t a day or a moment but a way of life. Good is choosing God’s ways over our ways each and every day. It is choosing to be just, to love and to love for God with humility. Humility calls us to be thankful to God for days like these and reminds us that all good gifts come from Him. These are all important and vital aspects when building a life which honours God and loving each other.
