Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:15-16 ESV
Tonight we spent the night planning. It was great fun! As a family (plus our extras) we were chatting away, about the upcoming wedding, our once in a life time holiday next year, my brothers birthday in a few days. It was a great evening. Many jokes were made, plenty of ideas discusses, and endless laughs had.
Thinking back on the evening now, I was musing about Proverbs 19:21, many are the plans in a man’s heart, but the purpose of the Lord will prevail. We are so quick to plan and organise, it is easy to forget to take a step back and remember who is in control of our plans. All we are called to do is our best, the rest is to be left up to God. I feel like this then leads into the verse at the top, Ephesians 5:15-16. We are called to walk wisely, living a life to love God and others. It is important to look at are we living a life full of purpose. Are we taking the time to evaluate our lives (look at how we walk) and then making adjustments as necessary?
While we are more isolated from the world than we normally are, it is a great time to make sure we are using our time well. To ensure that we aren’t wasting the extra time we have been given, instead using on important things, fellowship, encouragement, even rest.
I pray Lord that we will be faithful with our time and our planning, that we will look to you in all things.
