Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23-24 ESV
In whatever you do, do it for the Lord. No matter our occupation, whether we are called to be spouses, mothers, business people, specialists, cleaners, tradesmen, anything! We are called to work hard, not to get glory from our boss or any other person but because we have an obligation to bring glory to God. This is great comfort, especially when we are overlooked or marginalised, because, ultimately, our reward comes from heaven not from man. What an amazing concept! This let’s us be free from the pressures of this world and its opinions, letting us live wholly for the Lord.
I heard an amazing quote from Michael Ramsdem from one of his colleagues, Jo Vitale today which ties in perfectly with this verse. I’m sure he’s not the first nor will he be the last to make this statement but I love it none the less and will close with it.
