…looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2 ESV
Looking to Jesus. The beauty, majesty, awesomeness, might, the all encompassing fullness of Jesus. It is amazing how the troubles of this world seem strangle dim and melt away when we wholly and fully turn to Him.
And the other half, enduring the cross because of the Joy set before Him. Its incredible how perspective changes our response to things. Jesus had an eternal perspective which made Him able to endure everything He went through because He knew it would lead to something greater. Where is our perspective? What’s shaping it? Is it Jesus and eternity or is it this world with its troubles and trials?
I think the only way we can ever truly understand and live out this verse is by taking the two parts together. It is only possible to live with an eternal perspective if we have our eyes fixed on Him.
