A daily verse ~ audience

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16 ESV

Have you ever stopped to think about who our prayers are actually going to? Have you ever stopped to think about the fact at anytime, night or day, regardless of location or situation, we are able to have an audience with the creator of everything. The King of the universe, God of All, Lord God who brought this earth and everything on it into existence.

Its a mind blowing thought hey?! This is a concept I have been wrestling with a lot lately and once again tonight I was challenged by it. In our bible study we were listening to an except from a message by Francis Chan who made this point brilliantly. He illustrated this point and then went on to challenge us that this is such a huge thing for us to just take for granted.

When we are thinking about our prayer life do we premises by this idea of whom we’re praying to?

“I don’t have time to pray… to the creator of the universe”.

“I suppose I’d better pray more.. to the God who made us and loves me.”

“I guess I should make more time to pray.. to the creator of everything.”

That just sounds pathetic really. But so often it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking this way. We forgot the magnitude of prayer and to whom we pray. Its only when we get a right idea of prayer and God do we truely delight in and value it.

May we think deeply about how we approach prayer and may we never take such an incredible privilege for granted.
