Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

What an incredible thing! The Spirit helps us in our weakness. Wow! Take a moment to ponder what this actually means, for you, the church, for humanity. God Himself, interceding for us, doing what we cannot. He personally steps into our mess and speaks on our behalf, to ensure we get the help and comfort we need.
What a precious privilege it is to be on the other side of that help. Its hard to imagine why God would be willing to do this for us. I mean, why isn’t He far away and angry that we can never get it right, like, He’s done so much for us already. This is one of the things which makes the Christian faith stand out from the other religions and ways of living, God never says thats enough, I give up. Rather He steps in and says, I will offer myself up for you. I will intercede for you. I will even send part of myself to allow you access to me even when you don’t do things right, do them wrong or don’t even know what to say.
Wow! How precious God’s love and compassion for us is! May we never forget or take for granted this privilege.
