Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 11:28-29 ESV
Rest. How often do we yearn for rest? Too often we fixate our lives around busy, to the point of being burnt out and exhausted. We spend all our time seeking self-help remedies to fix this conundrum, without ever taking the time to stop and rest.
Every other religion in this world, I dare say, every other world view, aside from Christianity focus around this idea. Its all about what and how much you do, its all works. But this is where Christianity is different, instead of saying do all this stuff, Jesus says rest.
While every one else calls for bigger, greater, more. Jesus calls the broken, the down trodden, the exhausted, with this beautiful call, come to me and find rest. He promises that He will work along side us, not slave drive us, and instead of to do lists, His call is simple, come and learn, be part of this with me and here, and only here, we will find, God given rest.
