Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

What a cool, powerful verse! Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. One thing I love about this verse is that it shows that we (as followers of Christ) are not helpless to the sins and temptations of this world. The devil often tries to fool us that we are merely puppets on the strings of our DNA or desires with no way out. False! Rather we are called to fight, to overcome. Overcoming implies difficulty and struggle but it also say “this is possible”.
When we feel hemed in by troubles and temptation, when evil is crouching at the door of our hearts, we can overcome, we can persevere, and ultimately, we can have victory over evil with good. Because who is all things good? God. God is able to enable us to overcome evil in our lives with and through His goodness.
