A daily thought ~ rainy nights

The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
Proverbs 10:22 ESV

Sitting looking out my window and standing on the deck with my hands outstretched to collect the rain as it comes past the roof. Tonight was our first rain for the season. Thunder lightening, rain, wind. It had all the makings of a dangerous storm but we were blessed with a small storm, barely lasting 30 minutes. Yet standing out there in its gentle, raw power, I could not help but be reminded of this verse. What a blessing rain is. It waters and revives our scorched earth, bringing life every where it goes.

Standing with my hands reaching just out into the rain or watching the rain belt against my window would have to be one of my favourite things in the world. I was reflecting on what I’ll miss most when I leave home and get married, while there are all the obvious things like the people, the banter, the laughter, its the small things that hit in a moment.

Moments like these don’t last forever. Being the only person in the world surround by Gods display of wonder and power is by far one of the most special things. Some people find that in art, others in people, but for me, its nature. Being surround by Gods creation and raw power displayed is for me, one of the greatest blessings which make one rich and addth no sorrow.
