I adore this prayer! Ever since I first came across it in a piece of music, I have loved it. I love how hearty and meaningful this prayer is, there is nothing wishy-washy about it, it is heartfelt and real.
I know when I first started praying this prayer personally, I was really nervous that God would somehow reject me for showing Him all my flaws. While I knew it mentally, what I hadn’t yet realised deep in my heart, was that Jesus already knew those flaws are loved me regardless. That is the beauty of the cross, we are loved so much that love found a way to erase our flaws.
In order to pray this prayer meaningfully, you have to realise, truely and deeply understand that Jesus sees all our sins anyway, and, He still loves us! I have heard some say that this is a hard prayer to pray, and I agree to an extent, but this has become my hearts daily cry and that has completely changed my life. Always opening yourself up to God is by far the best decision you will ever make. The vulnerability and peace which comes from being open and honest is so freeing and transformative.
Let God in. You don’t have to hide anymore. He already knows, cares and loves you completely.
